The EG2 generates four-stage ADSR (Attack, Decay, Sustain, Release) envelopes perfect for adding expression. Adjust the exponential curves of each stage for articulated sounds. Re-trigger the envelope while it plays for rhythmic effects. Use the built-in LFO with variable waveshapes to cycle the EG2 for drones, tremolo patterns and more.

Exponential ADSR Envelope Shaping

The EG2 produces nuanced ADSR envelopes using exponential curves, ideal for musical applications. Adjust the level sliders and knobs to precisely shape each segment of the envelope.

The Attack time defines the slope from zero to peak. Use a short attack for punchy sounds or extend it for smooth fades in.

The Decay curve brings the level down towards the sustain stage. Control the convex exponential curvature from tight to expansive.

The Sustain section keeps the sound steady. Adjust this level and use the gate/toggle switch to define how long it sustains.

Finally, the Release tail tapers the sound off with an exponential slope you can tune from quick fade outs to languid echoes.

Together these four ADSR stages help you contour envelopes, from snappy transients to evolving pads. The exponential curves sound more natural than linear ramps.

Voltage-Controlled Gate Length

Use CV signals to modulate the gate length, controlling how long the envelope sustains at its peak level before decaying. This voltage-controlled gate function adds dynamism and expression.

Patch an LFO to create rhythmic gating effects. Use an envelope from a keyboard to vary sustain time based on key press duration. Trigger the VCG input with a sequencer for stepping patterns. The possibilities are endless!

Retriggering Onboard

While the envelope plays, you can re-trigger it to restart the shape. This lets you create rhythmic articulations, acrylic beats, tremolo, trills and more.

Use the manual gate button or patch gate signals from sequencers, keyboards and trigger generators to re-trigger the envelope. Adjust the re-trig time knob to add swing feels and groovy rhythms.

Built-in Cycling LFO

The EG2 features a versatile LFO to cycle the envelope automatically. Select from triangle, falling or rising sawtooth and square wave shapes with the waveform switch.

Adjust the cycling rate from ultra-slow crawling shifts to audio rate modulation. Set the amount knob to define how deeply the LFO impacts the levels.

Use cycling envelopes to generate animated drones, add rhythmic movement, simulate breathing patterns, and more!

Gate and End-of-Cycle Outputs

Two output sections offer additional functionality. The Gate output sends high/low triggers tracking the gate state, great for synchronizing modules.

The End-of-Cycle output fires a blip at the completion of each envelope cycle. Use this to trigger sequencers, advance patterns, synchronize modulation and more.
